Licencing the Wimmera

The Licencing the Wimmera Program provides support to young people to learn to drive safely and to maintaining mobility and being able to access facilities within rural communities. A Vic Roads initiative, L2P is designed to assist disadvantaged Learner Drivers achieve the 120 hours of driving experience required to sit their licence. The Licencing the Wimmera program is co-ordinated by Volunteering Western Victoria. West Wimmera Shire supports this program through the use of a Shire vehicle after hours.

L2P Program

To join the L2P program, you will need:

  • to be between 16 and 21 years of age
  • hold a current learners permit
  • have trouble accessing either a vehicle, supervised driver or both and;
  • agree to sign a code of conduct.

P21 Program

As an adult learner you do not have to log 120 hours of supervised practice, just enough driving experience to gain a Probationary Licence.

In the P21 program we ensure you have access to as many driving practice sessions as required.

Become a Mentor

Volunteering for the L2P program provides immense satisfaction in seeing young people gain their licence and the mobility required to participate in employment, education and other opportunities.

Full free training to Volunteer Mentors is provided by Volunteering Western Victoria along with ongoing support.
