The Edenhope Cultural and Community Hub project (redevelopment of the Mechanics Hall) has met a significant milestone in the last month, with the draft design finalised and released for public consultation and comment.
Following the appointment of Jakob Kelly Architect to prepare the architectural and structural design of the Hub, draft drawings have been finalised. The design encompasses extensive input from various sources, including past community consultation and one-on-one meetings with user groups.
"Although this project has taken a lengthy amount of time to mature and has at times been ambiguous, it is now emerging as a project that has the potential to be transformational for Edenhope and the surrounding districts. It is a project that will positively affect the dynamic of Edenhope and the community", explains Council's Chief Executive Officer, David Leahy.
The new building is designed to accommodate the library, providing opportunities to expand current programs and develop new activities for learning. Space will also be available for a Neighbourhood House, which will complement the library services, provide new educational opportunities and create a community atmosphere. Designed as a multi-use facility, the Edenhope Cultural & Community Hub will strengthen community ties and become the heart of the town.
Vision and Voice of Edenhope have contributed considerably to the project to date, having supported the project since its inception. The group has been involved throughout the process.
You can find a hard copy of the design on the window of the Red Tail Gallery or at the Mechanics Hall. You can also view images and a design overview on Edenhope-Cultural-and-Community-Hub webpage.
All members of the public are invited to attend an information session at 7.00 pm Tuesday 20 May at the Red Tail Gallery. Architect, Jakob Kelly will be available to discuss the design and council officers will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the overall project.
