West Wimmera Shire Council is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for Senior Citizen of the Year 2017, a local award presented by West Wimmera Shire Council.
"This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding senior resident in our Shire to be recognised for their contribution to our community" said Mayor Bruce Meyer.
Eligible nominees must be aged 60 years or more, have a positive attitude towards ageing, continue to be active in the community while encouraging others to do the same, have made a significant contribution to the community since turning 60, and reside in West Wimmera Shire.
"We encourage people to start thinking about who they can nominate for this Award" said Mayor Meyer. "There are many quiet achievers within our local communities who deserve acknowledgement and applause through this Award".
Nomination forms can be collected from the Shire Offices in Edenhope and Kaniva, and also downloaded from Council's website. Nominations will close at 5:00pm on Thursday 24 August 2017, and the winner will be selected by Councillors in the closed session at the September 2017 Ordinary Council Meeting.
"We will present the Senior Citizen of the Year 2017 Award to the winner at the Seniors Concert in Edenhope on 19 October 2017" said Mayor Meyer.
