The Sustaining Harrow Football, Netball and Community Project is now completed

A sustainable water supply for the Harrow Recreation Reserve now and into the future has been secured with the completion of the Sustaining Harrow Football, Netball and Community Project.

In February 2017 the Harrow Recreation Reserve was successful in securing funding under the Victorian Government Sustainable Water Fund – Community Sport and Recreation Program to provide a sustainable watering system for the recreation reserve oval and surrounds.

The water sustainability project included the installation of a solar powered pump system, a 300,000 litre water storage tank and a backup generator housed in a designated shed to secure the supply of water to the recreation reserve for general use as well as emergency services support.

With work beginning in March 2017 the hard work of local contractors McClure's Earthmoving, Red Ed's Sheds, Troy Shrive Builder and Finchett's Plumbing of Hamilton ensured the project was completed by the end of June deadline.

"This project will enhance the continued viability of the Harrow Recreation Reserve which is an integral part of Harrow and an important gathering place for the community" commented West Wimmera Shire Council Mayor, Cr Bruce Meyer.

The completion of the Sustaining Harrow Football, Netball and Community Project will enable the Harrow Recreation Reserve to engage with additional user groups year round by ensuring a well maintained sporting field and complex for sport, conferencing, events and emergency management.
