Councillor Jodie Pretlove has been elected as the new Mayor of West Wimmera Shire at today's Annual Statutory Meeting in Edenhope.
"It is a real privilege to be chosen to lead the Shire in this important role" said Mayor Jodie Pretlove.
"I thank my Councillor colleagues for their support and the trust they are placing in me" said Mayor Pretlove. "I would also like to acknowledge the leadership and guidance provided by the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Bruce Meyer, over the past 12 months since I was elected to Council".
Mayor Pretlove lives on her family's farming property at Minimay with her husband Craig, and they have three adult children who are pursuing their individual careers.
She spent more than 20 years running her own hairdressing business, and understands the unique challenges faced by small business and farmers alike.
Mayor Pretlove is the fifth woman to hold the position of Mayor of the Shire since amalgamation took place in 1995. She follows in the footsteps of the late Carlyne Whitehead (1998), Linda Guthridge (2002 & 2006), Eveline van Breugel (2012) and Annette Jones (2015 & 2016).
"I look forward to engaging with our local communities, and working collaboratively for the benefit of all who make West Wimmera their home" said Mayor Pretlove.
