$600,000 Funding approved for the Edenhope Library
Hon Marlene Kairouz MP has today announced Councils application for funding through the Living Library's Infrastructure Program had been successful and that $600,000 has been approved under the program for the Edenhope Library.
This support for the project recognises the important role the Edenhope Library plays in our communities. This funding will support the progress of the Edenhope Hall Redevelopment which will see the current hall removed and replaced with a contemporary community space with library collection, space for reading, meetings, workshops, school holiday activities as well as a function area.
The Redevelopment of the Edenhope Hall including the relocation of the Library has been a project on Councils agenda for many years and this support allows to move forward with the project to provide an inviting community space for all West Wimmera Shire Mayor, Jodie Pretlove said.
Ann Twyford, CEO Wimmera Regional Library Corporation said the new Edenhope Cultural and Community Hub, with the assistance of the Living Libraries Infrastructure grant program funding, will give the community a fantastic place where people will be able to meet, learn and do business which will be a great asset to the Edenhope and West Wimmera Shire Council communities.
We are grateful to the State Government for the funds to support this exciting project. The Library is a component of a larger community space that will enable the Edenhope Community to explore several new activities including short course education, tertiary education, host performing arts and large functions such as weddings and birthdays West Wimmera Shire Mayor, Jodie Pretlove said.
West Wimmera Shire Council is working on the project timelines and next steps and will continue to update the community as this progress.
