West Wimmera Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest for the purchase of the former Edenhope Senior Citizens Clubrooms located at 54-56 Langford Street, Edenhope.

The relocation of the senior citizens’ club to the new Edenhope and District Community Centre in Elizabeth Street has prompted the sale of the Langford Street site by expression of interest.

The site is a substantial 2,025 square metres and is located on the north side of Langford Street with a frontage of approximately 40 metres. It features a yellow brick veneer building which includes a large function room with a raised stage, an office, a storeroom, full kitchen, smaller foyer area and separate male and female toilets.

Council believes the site will appeal to a variety of potential purchasers. The site is zoned township and could be repurposed, subject to council approval (STCA) to suit many different uses. The site is adjacent to the Edenhope Kindergarten, with a fully fenced back yard and ample parking which immediately suggests an ideal opportunity for child-care operator.

Interim CEO, Mr Paul Brumby, sees the sale of the property as a tremendous opportunity for a savvy buyer.

“This site is the ideal chance for someone enterprising to leave their stamp on Edenhope”, he said.

“Edenhope is midway between Melbourne and Adelaide and has a lot of services businesses seek when they are considering setting up an office.

“We have a supermarket, a hospital, a post office, a community bank, service stations; all kinds of retail and industrial businesses operate here.

“NBN Fibre to the Node is available for connection so the technological infrastructure is here for those who need it too.

“We strongly encourage all interested parties to come and inspect this property and submit an expression of interest.”

The closing date for expressions of interest to be lodged is 12 March 2021, 5 pm. Information regarding the property can be downloaded from www.westwimmera.vic.gov.au/LangfordSt  or documentation can be mailed out by contacting customer service on 13 99 72.
