What is the Master Plan?

A master plan is a long-term comprehensive site plan which will guide future investment into the Edenhope Playspaces.

The project aims to produce a master plan of development that:

  • Identifies the structural layout and appearance of the five Council outdoor playspaces in Edenhope.
  • Focuses on strategies to increase travellers on the highways to ‘stop and stay’ in the town.
  • Considers short term actions in addition to long term development aspects.
  • Consider the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Consider linkage to other playspaces both locally and regionally.
  • Considers the demographic of each playspace to ensure that all community members are represented
  • Provides a resource that council can use to source funding to develop playspaces in Edenhope.

The master plan will be created with community consultation. We asked to hear from you about what you would like to see in the play spaces of Edenhope.

What locations will be included in the Edenhope Playspace Master plan?

  • Anne St Playground
  • Lake Wallace Foreshore
  • Lions Park Edenhope
  • Henley Park Edenhope
  • Apex Park Edenhope

Revised draft plans are open for comment until 5pm, 23 October 2022

What engagement has already happened?

Council's consultation process has included:

  • Two online community surveys, advertised on the WWSC website, social media, and in the West Wimmera Advocate.
  • Several community consultation meetings.
  • In-person consultation sessions at the Edenhope College and St Malachy's school involving student and staff.
  • Consultation with Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria
  • Consultation with the Edenhope Playspace Master Plan Community Advisory Group  - consisting of volunteer stakeholders and advocates for the community of Edenhope.
  • Draft plans submitted to Council

Why is this engagement happening now?

Council has completed the first stage of their planning and is now keen to hear from individuals and groups in our community.

The intended outcomes of seeking feedback will be to:

  1. Receive feedback on design elements within the landscape plan
  2. Receive feedback regarding the translation of design principles into practical outcomes – have we designed a public space that is inclusive, safe, welcoming and fun?

How long is the engagement process?

The draft plans were available for feedback from 10 June 2022 and closed on Sunday, 26 June 2022.

A drop in community consultation session was conducted for the community to have the chance to come along and ask questions and provide feedback.

  • When: Thursday, 23rd June at 3.45-4.45pm (drop in between these times)
  • Where: Edenhope and District Community Centre
  • Contact Person: Sarah Ellis 13 99 72

Further community consultation will be conducted shortly, with further plans for Henley park and Lions Park being made available for comment.

A report will be developed for Council summarising the process of:
