Community groups needing financial assistance to pay for insurance can now apply for West Wimmera Shire’s new Community Support Grants

The grants, which open March 4, supports the vital contributions made by not-for-profit community organisations within the shire.

The Community Support Grants aim to provide financial assistance to committees of management or hall committees, specifically addressing the costs associated with facilities insurances, including public and products liability, and contents and building insurance.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said Council understood the pivotal role that local organisations play in the community.

“The Community Support Grants will help not-for-profit groups and committees meet the costs for their insurance," he said.

The grant has three distinct streams:

  • Community support contribution: Recipients must be not-for-profit, incorporated organisations that promote the interests of the community.
  • Public and products liability insurance contribution: Open to not-for-profit committees that administer non-council-owned facilities that provide a service to the community.
  • Building and contents insurance contribution: Recipients must be committees overseeing non-council-owned facilities, benefiting the community.

Eligible organisations are encouraged to apply.

“We invite our community partners to seize this opportunity and apply for some much-needed funding,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.
