Visit Council at the Western Victorin Careers Expo

Students visiting the Western Victorian Careers Expo can learn more about working with West Wimmera Shire Council.

Council staff will be at the 2024 expo on June 25 at Longerenong.

Council’s focus at this year’s event is to showcase a range of career opportunities available at West Wimmera Shire Council.

Council will have staff from different departments and areas available to speak to interested students.

Staff will talk about their different roles, how they started working in them, and what skills and qualifications they needed to have.

Council hopes to highlight many varying positions that it can offer, and that there is value in working in small rural communities.

Any current vacancies will also be visible on the day.

Council’s stand at the careers expo is being supported by Engage! Victoria, which supports young people create, participate in, and engage with activities, projects, programs and services that assist them to fully participate in the communities that they work and live in.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said attending the Western Victorian Careers Expo provided Council with a fantastic opportunity to engage with students and showcase the rewarding career opportunities available within West Wimmera Shire Council.

"Staff are looking forward to sharing insights into the diverse roles within our organisation and demonstrate the value of contributing to our vibrant rural community," he said.

"Whether students are interested in engineering, environmental management, community development, early years education, administration or project management, there will be professionals available to provide valuable guidance and information are many diverse roles available in local government.”
