West Wimmera Shire Council is excited to announce that the remarkable Glenn Starr will perform at the shire’s seniors concert in October.

This free event will be on October 19 from 1pm at the Kaniva Shire Hall.

The concert is part of the Victorian Seniors Festival, which focuses on providing free or low-cost events and activities, for residents aged over 60.

Now in its 41st year, the Victorian Seniors Festival encourages seniors to get active, try something new, meet new people and sample what is on offer in their local area.

In West Wimmera Shire, Glenn Starr will perform hits of the 1950s and 1960s.

This sensational show that has been delighting audiences across the country for the past 10 years.

The show reintroduces the enchanting melodies and timeless voices of Bobby Vee, Gene Pitney, Neil Sedaka, Del Shannon, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Honeycombs, Guy Mitchell, Johnny Burnette, and many more.

And of course, it wouldn't be a tribute to the 50s and 60s without paying homage to the biggest icons of the era, including Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and The Beatles.

Afternoon tea will be supplied after the concert.

The concert will also include the awarding of West Wimmera Shire Council’s 2023 Senior Citizen of the Year.

This prestigious award recognises an unsung hero in the shire, someone who continues to be active in the community and encourages others to do the same.

Bus transport will be available from other towns in West Wimmera Shire.

Bookings for the bus are essential. Residents in Apsley, Edenhope and Goroke who would like to book a seat on the bus can call Council on 13 99 72.
