Worsk Coordinator (Road Maintenance)

West Wimmera Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated civil works professional to take a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our vital road network. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, handson leader who values safety, quality work, and efficient service delivery. 

As our Works Coordinator (Road Maintenance), you will play a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of road maintenance and selected capital improvement programs, with a strong emphasis on grading and construction across our unsealed road network. 
 
Key responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the routine grading maintenance of unsealed roads within allocated budgets. 
  • Lead and support grading crews, providing technical and practical guidance as needed. 
  • Coordinate work teams, haulage trucks and contractors to optimise efficiency and cost effectiveness. 
  • Work closely with Superintendent, Engineers and Management to plan and deliver works. 
  • Undertake quality assurance checks, site inspections and defect assessments. 
  • Allocate daily tasks, plant, materials and equipment to crews. 
  • Liaise with workshop and depot staff to ensure operational readiness of plant and equipment and other resources. 
  • Ensure all staff and contractors follow approved standards and safe work practices.
  • Manage response to customer requests and ensure required actions and reporting are undertaken in a timely manner.

About you 
We are looking for a practical, reliable and solutions focused leader with: 

  • Demonstrated experience in unsealed road maintenance and civil works operations.   
  • Strong team leadership and communication skills. 
  • Commitment to safe work practices and highquality service delivery. 
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks and resources.
  • Supervisory or management experience in a local government context would be highly regarded.
