About the project

West Wimmera Shire Council will seek funding to complete schematic design works for the Edenhope Swimming Centre and associated stadium facilities. The design phase will prepare the centre for future funding applications and long-term renewal by documenting options for major upgrades.

Key elements of the Edenhope Swimming Centre include a 25-metre pool, plant and equipment room, children’s pool, and changerooms. Many components are more than 20 years old and no longer meet current standards for accessibility, safety or inclusion.

Why this project is important

Completing schematic designs will:

  • Address ageing infrastructure and assets nearing end of life
  • Identify upgrades to improve accessibility and safety (including ramp entry and wet deck options)
  • Reduce ongoing operational and financial risk associated with aging plant and equipment
  • Position the centre for larger renewal funding opportunities that support long-term community use of aquatic and recreation facilities

Next steps

Council will apply for schematic design funding through the State Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund. If funding is secured, schematic design works will be commissioned and stakeholder engagement will be undertaken to inform final design recommendations.
