About the project

West Wimmera Shire Council will apply for funding to upgrade the scoreboard facilities at the Harrow Recreation Reserve.

The project proposes the installation of:

  • One AFL LED scoreboard
  • Two netball LED scoreboards

These would replace the existing manual systems, improving functionality and reducing the workload placed on volunteers.

The current scoreboard setup relies entirely on manual scoring, which places additional pressure on volunteers and creates extra steps when transferring results to online platforms.

The proposed upgrade would improve visibility for players and spectators, reduce manual processes and administration, and modernise the facilities to meet current sporting expectations.

Why this project is important

Upgrading the scoreboards will:

  • Reduce workload for volunteers through automated and reliable systems
  • Improve game-day visibility and accessibility
  • Modernise the reserve to align with contemporary sporting standards
  • Support the long-term sustainability of sport in Harrow

Electronic scoreboards offer greater reliability, ease of use and efficiency, allowing clubs to focus more on participation and less on administration.

Next steps

Council will apply for funding through the State Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund. If successful, detailed design and procurement will follow.
