Edenhope Equine Facility redevelopment
- Project typeFacility Upgrade/Construction
- Project value$478,000
The Edenhope Equine Facility is located on the Wimmera Highway in Edenhope and is used by both the Edenhope Adult Riding Club and Apsley Pony Club.
Current use of the riding facility by the Apsley Pony Club and Edenhope Adult Riding Club include stockman’s challenges, weekly social rides, monthly rallies, private lessons, show jumping competitions, training days, and twilight jumps. The equine facility is also used by the wider community. Farriers and equine dentists that come to the area use the facility as a central point for people in the wider community to bring their horses to.
The facilities in their current state mean both clubs are limited in their ability to hold events and attract new members. There is no water on site, there are limited toilets and no changing rooms or any private areas. The current toilets are also on a raised platform, meaning they are unsuitable for children or anyone with mobility issues. The current facilities also mean the user groups cannot store important club records, and the setup makes it difficult for groups to host events.
The Edenhope Equine Facility redevelopment will include construction of a new pavilion with toilets, showers, an all-accessible toilet and shower, baby change facilities and first aid room.
The building will have a social room kitchenette, with the ability to run small canteen, as well as an office with an option to have a window to allow contact between the office and outside patrons, for tasks such as checking-in competitors. The new building will have a veranda, which would provide an undercover viewing area and shelter.
The redevelopment will also include water tanks, accessible parking and a storage shed located on the edge of the arena. The new facility will use solar and battery storage, plus rainwater tanks, making it a self-reliant, off-grid facility.
