West Wimmera Shire residents are encouraged to give their input into a new destination management plan.

Later this month, there will be a series of community meetings, aimed at gathering insights and input for the development of a Destination Management Plan (DMP) and Local Area Action Plan.

The plans, funded by Regional Development Victoria, will shape the strategic direction of West Wimmera and the broader Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism Visitor Economy Partnership.

Stafford Consultants has been engaged to create the plans. The company will host a series of community meetings to gather input.

These community meetings provide an opportunity for residents, business owners, and industry stakeholders to contribute their perspectives and ideas towards the enhancement of our region's visitor economy.

There will be three community meetings, in Edenhope, Harrow and Kaniva on May 31.

The meetings will be at Edenhope and District Community Centre from 11.15am – 12.45pm; Harrow Discovery Centre from 1.30pm – 3pm; and Kaniva Shire Hall Supper Room, 4pm – 6pm.

Given the limited time available, Stafford Consultants is only running three community meetings.

Council encourages residents from other areas of the shire to attend a meeting in Edenhope, Harrow or Kaniva to ensure their voices are heard.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said these community meetings were crucial in shaping the future of the region's tourism and visitor economy.

"We urge all community members, industry stakeholders, and residents to participate and share their valuable insights,” he said.

“Your input will directly contribute to the development of plans that will guide our region's growth and prosperity."
