Community Engagement Policy - Have Your Say

West Wimmera Shire Council is seeking community input on its Draft Community Engagement Policy as part of its commitment to improve how engagement is undertaken by council. New requirements introduced under the Local Government Act 2020 (the Act), require all councils to adopt and maintain a Community Engagement Policy and it must be adopted on or before 1 March 2021.

The Community Engagement Policy is a fundamental element of the Local Government Act 2020. It provides an overarching governance framework for the implementation of the process Council will employ to involve its community in the process of local government and is therefore one of the fundamental governance documents of Council.

The Draft Community Engagement Policy is available for download from this page and community members are invited to comment on it via the online survey here before 29 January 2021.

Residents may also request a hard copy of the document and the survey at one of council's offices at 25 Baker Street, Kaniva or 49 Elizabeth Street, Edenhope or by calling 13 99 72.
