West Wimmera Shire Council is required to adopt Governance Rules by 1 Sep 2020 pursuant to the new Local Government Act 2020, following a period of community engagement. This community engagement period commences on Thu 16 Jul 2020 and concludes on Thu 13 Aug 2020.

The draft Governance Rules include a Governance Framework, Meeting Procedure for Council Meetings, Meeting Procedure for Delegated Committees and Community Asset Committees, Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest, and Council’s Election Period Policy.

The objective of this community engagement is to provide members of the public with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the draft Governance Rules, and provide a written submission to Council regarding the content of the Governance Rules.

Written submissions are to be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, WWSC, P O Box 201, Edenhope VIC 3318 or emailed to govmanager@westwimmera.vic.gov.au, and must be received by 5.00pm on Thu 13 Aug 2020.

People who have lodged a written submission may speak to their submission at a Council Meeting to be held at 11.00am on Wed 19 Aug 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendances must be via Zoom video link rather than in person.

The draft Governance Rules are available on Council’s website, and at the front counter of the Edenhope and Kaniva Offices. A PDF of the Governance Rules can also be obtained by emailing a request to the Governance Manager at govmanager@westwimmera.vic.gov.au.

All submissions will be considered by Council, prior to the adoption of the Governance Rules on the afternoon of Wed 19 Aug 2020.
