Join in, make art, and send a message to wild West Wimmera.
Postcard to a Local: Native Species Art Exhibition is a community art exhibition celebrating the incredible diversity of native species in our region—from wildflowers, grasses and trees to birds and animals.
Edenhope Library invites everyone in West Wimmera Shire to contribute a small artwork (A6 size) inspired by a local native species, and write a postcard message addressed to that plant or creature. Submissions can take the form of a drawing, painting, linocut, photograph, or other two-dimensional medium you like. Each postcard will become part of a growing mosaic of local creativity and care, reflecting our shared connection to the land, its history and living heritage.
The exhibition will be launched with a special event on 6 February at 2:30pm at Edenhope Library, featuring guest speaker Rachel Farran on the South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo—a rare and threatened bird in our area. Through your art, we’ll explore how communities can build awareness and appreciation of our local environment, grow connections between people, place and nature, and protect social and ecological wellbeing by celebrating and caring for our unique community.
You will be able to view the exhibition anytime Edenhope Library is open during the month of February.
Get started today: collect a blank postcard from the library to join in, make art, and send a message to wild West Wimmera!
Please deliver your entry between 6 and 28 January.
