The Edenhope Equine Facility has been transformed into a modern, fully off-grid venue supporting local equestrian clubs and broader community use. The upgraded facility is home to the Edenhope Adult Riding Club and Apsley Pony Club and is regularly used for rallies, riding days, lessons, competitions, and club events.
Previously lacking essential infrastructure, the facility was unable to support large-scale events or provide appropriate amenities for children and people with accessibility needs. With no water on site and limited, elevated toilets, the old facilities were difficult to use and placed significant strain on volunteers.
This redevelopment has created a space that better meets the needs of local clubs and enables Edenhope to host regional events, attracting riders and visitors from across Victoria and South Australia.
The project involved the construction of a new, fully off-grid building featuring:
Toilets, showers, and accessible facilities
A kitchen, office, and first aid room
Social room and baby change area
Veranda providing sheltered viewing
Off-grid solar and battery system
Rainwater tanks and accessible parking
External access to amenities for campers and after-hours use
The facility was designed in close consultation with user groups and is tailored to improve functionality, reduce volunteer burden, and create a welcoming, professional space for events of all sizes.
Improved accessibility for children and people with mobility issues
Reliable, low-cost, self-sufficient power and water systems
Reduced volunteer workload during event setup
Increased capacity for hosting regional events and school programs
Encourages overnight stays, boosting local visitation
Designed for shared, long-term use by both clubs
