Background

West Wimmera Shire Council is progressing the design of upgraded netball and tennis facilities at the Edenhope Recreation Reserve to support the future of community sport.

The existing netball and tennis courts are ageing and no longer meet contemporary standards. The playing surface does not provide accessible entry, has non-compliant gradients, and is showing significant signs of deterioration. Without renewal, these issues have the potential to negatively impact participation in both sports.

The existing changeroom facilities also require improvement. A single changeroom currently serves multiple purposes, including equipment storage, limiting its functionality and reducing privacy for players. Its connection to the main pavilion also raises privacy and safety concerns.

To address these issues, Council is seeking funding through the Victorian Government's Local Sports Infrastructure Fund to undertake planning and design for future facility upgrades. The completed designs will support future funding applications and ensure the project is ready for construction when funding becomes available.

Scope

The Edenhope Recreation Reserve Netball and Tennis Facilities Design Project will include:

  • Design development of new netball and tennis courts.
  • Design development for new or upgraded changeroom facilities.
  • Design development for associated infrastructure, including car parking, shelters and pathways.

The project will deliver concept and design documentation that meets contemporary sporting standards, accessibility requirements and the needs of the Edenhope community.
