Community Strengthening Grants Support 9 Projects

West Wimmera Shire Council has awarded grants to 9 projects across the shire approved in Wednesday November 18th Council meeting totalling $22,113, as part of the Community Strengthening Grants Program.
Council grants help facilitate community events and support the upgrading and maintenance of quality facilities within the community. This is important as communities begin to rebuild connection and action with the easing of the pandemic restrictions.
West Wimmera Shire Council’s Community Strengthening Grants program is designed to promote and increase participation of residents in community initiatives, to build and strengthen local networks and partnerships and to support community leadership, learning and skill development.
Council provides financial assistance to community groups and organisations to support the provision of programs, activities and services which respond to identified community needs, contribute to the building of a stronger community, develop innovative approaches and local social issues and are in accordance with Council’s strategic objectives.
The 9 successful projects were –
1. Kaniva and District Progress Association – Eat, Stay, Play Community Data Base
2. Day of the Dackel – Day of the Dackel 2022
3. Edenhope RSL – Anzac Day Celebrations 2022
4. Goroke Bowls Club – scoreboard upgrade
5. Kaniva Leeor United Football Club In
6. Kowree Tennis Association – new tennis nets
7. Lockhart Racecourse & Recreation Reserve – fence repair and replacement
8. Serviceton Golf Club – new signs
9. Kaniva Golf Club – new mower / cart shed
