Community Strengthening Grants awarded

West Wimmera Shire Council has awarded funding to six community groups as part of Round 1 of the 2025-26 Community Strengthening Grants Program.
The successful recipients are Serviceton Golf Club, Connewirricoo Community Centre, Kaniva Men’s Shed, Kaniva Community Sporting Complex, Kaniva Golf Club and Harrow Neighbourhood House.
Connewirricoo Community Centre will receive $5000 to upgrade the toilet and shower block and fix outside paths.
Kaniva Community Sporting Complex will receive $4475.38 to purchase new gym equipment.
Kaniva Golf Club will receive $3545 to renovate the tee blocks and create a par 3 course.
Harrow Neighbourhood House will receive $3002 for new exercise equipment.
Serviceton Golf Club will receive $2602.66 for new chairs and blinds in the clubhouse.
Kaniva Men’s Shed will receive $1934.26 to purchase new chairs and a dishwasher.
Mayor Tim Meyer said it was great to be able to award the community groups money for these important projects.
“These are all worthy projects that will help these groups complete much-needed upgrades and projects,” he said.
Cr Meyer said all the applications were of good merit that would benefit the community.
The Community Strengthening Grants program is designed to promote and increase participation of residents in community initiatives, to build and strengthen local networks and partnerships, and to support community leadership, learning, and skill development.
This funding has two rounds each year and there are two categories for the funding – community projects and facilities upgrades and equipment purchases.
