West Wimmera Shire community groups and organisations can apply for up to $5000 through the Community Strengthening Grants Program.

Round two of the program is now open and closes on December 30.

Community groups and organisations can apply for funding for programs, activities, and services.

All funded activities or programs must respond to identified community needs and contribute to the building a stronger community.

There are four categories of funding. They are community projects (maximum $5000 on a $2 for $1 basis); community events (maximum of $1,200); facility upgrades and equipment purchases (maximum $5000 on a $2 for $1 basis); and environment, sustainability, and community safety (maximum $5000 on a $2 for $1 basis).

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the grant program was a fantastic opportunity for community groups to apply for some extra money.

“Council wants to help community groups and organisations do great things for our communities,” he said.
