West Wimmera Shire Council has formally adopted its Council Plan 2025-2029, Long-Term Financial Plan and 2024-25 Annual Report.
Council adopted the documents at an unscheduled Council meeting on Tuesday.
The Council Plan outlines the organisation’s strategic direction and priorities for the next four years, focusing on supporting liveable and healthy communities, a diverse and resilient economy, a sustainable environment, and strong governance.
The plan reflects feedback gathered through community consultation earlier this year and builds on Council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and collaboration.
Mayor Tim Meyer said the adoption of these key documents provided a clear path forward for the organisation and the community.
“These documents set out how we’ll continue to deliver the services and infrastructure our residents rely on while planning for the future needs of our towns and communities,” he said.
“The Council Plan was shaped by local voices and represents what our community has told us matters most.
“It’s about making sure West Wimmera remains a great place to live, work and invest.”
Mayor Tim Meyer acknowledged the effort that went into preparing the documents.
“We know there are challenging times ahead, but we’re doing our best to bring more funding into Council to continue delivering for our communities,” he said.
“Asset renewals remain a key priority, and we’re constantly working to find the funding needed to maintain and improve our infrastructure.”
Cr Meyer said the Long-Term Financial Plan would help guide responsible decision-making to ensure Council continues to operate sustainably.
“It’s vital that we balance investment in new projects with maintaining the assets we already have, so future generations can enjoy the same high standard of services,” he said.
The 2024-25 Annual Report provides an overview of Council’s achievements, performance and financial position over the past financial year, highlighting progress against strategic goals and key projects.
