West Wimmera Shire community groups, organisations and residents can lodge ideas and/or apply for Council support through a range of channels.

Council can offer assistance to business and community groups through grant programs.

Round two of the Community Strengthening Grants program is now open, with grants available of up to $5000.

For new businesses, Council can provide up to $15,000 through its business assistance scheme.

For existing businesses, there is Council’s streetscape program, which can provide up to $1500 for businesses to upgrade the appearance of buildings' facades or improve accessibility.

Residents can also submit ideas to Council at any time through the Innovation Platform.

The Innovation Platform is a tool to capture and develop the ideas of the community, visitors, and staff. It is a place to get ideas and suggestions heard.

Ideas may involve ways to improve service delivery, stimulate economic growth, or to improve the West Wimmera Shire as a place to live.

All submissions to the Innovation Platform are sent straight to Council’s executive leadership team for consideration or referral to Council.

They are presented to Council at the Councillors’ forum monthly meeting.

Grant submissions are assessed, and then determined by Council.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said Council wanted to help businesses, community groups and residents as much as possible.
