West Wimmera Shire Council is calling for residents to submit their future project ideas.

Council’s Innovation Platform allows residents to submit ideas to the Council.

Council is calling for community groups and clubs to use the platform to tell us what big projects and upgrades they would like to see.

Council can then provide assistance to these group, including help with sourcing funding, to make the ideas a reality.

Residents can also submit ideas through the platform to be included in future year’s budget and annual plan.

Each year, the Council budget seeks to maintain, improve, and enhance the level of infrastructure in the Shire, as well as deliver projects and services that are valued by our communities.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the Innovation Platform was as a valuable resource, providing an avenue for residents and community groups to submit their bold project ideas, from infrastructure upgrades to community initiatives.

“Council wants to help our communities develop and grow, and we encourage community members to actively participate by submitting their big ideas,” he said.

“Even if a proposed project is years away, early submissions are encouraged, allowing the Council ample time to explore potential funding options and sources.”

By submitting ideas through the Innovation Platform, the proposals then go through a process where they are assessed by Council’s projects team and senior management.

This collaborative effort ensures that proposed projects align with community goals and priorities.

“The platform is a fantastic tool that was developed to help capture the ideas of the community, visitors and staff,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.

“It is a place where people can submit ideas and get their suggestions heard.”

West Wimmera Shire Council is committed to fostering discussions, idea-sharing, and collective contributions toward impactful projects.

"Our Innovation Platform remains a cornerstone of our commitment to community empowerment. We encourage local groups and clubs to share their visionary ideas, shaping the future of the West Wimmera Shire," Mr Bezuidenhout said.

Anyone wanting to submit an idea to the Innovation Platform can do so online at https://www.westwimmera.vic.gov.au/Have-Your-Say/West-Wimmera-Innovation-Platform or by requesting a hard copy form at our Edenhope or Kaniva customer service centres.
