West Wimmera Shire Council has received $2000 from the State Government for Youth Fest 2022.

Grants of up to $2000 were offered to councils, community organisations and schools to host face-to-face, digital or hybrid events that encourage participation, amplify youth voices, and showcase young people’s talents.

The funding will go towards two events that Council is planning in September to coincide with Youth Fest.

There will be a special Youth Fest event at Henley Park, Edenhope, on September 22.

The day will include activities, workshops, food and drinks, and entertainment.

The grant funding will also help provide some entertainment for students at Council’s Health and Wellbeing Carnival on September 9. This is a combined-schools event.

Youth officer Leah Davies welcomed the funding.

“This is very exciting, and we are pleased to be able to offer Youth Fest events in our shire this year,” she said.

“We hope to be able to involve as many young people in the organisation of our Youth Fest event as possible.”

More information about the upcoming events will be available at westwimmera.vic.gov.au in the near future.
