The Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon has received vital funding from Visit Victoria.
The 33rd annual Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon will run from February 20 to 22.
The event received funding through Visit Victoria’s Regional Event Fund to help with running costs.
West Wimmera Shire Council facilitated a meeting between the Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon Committee and Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism to discuss the Regional Event Fund stream and funding opportunities.
Council acknowledges the collaborative partnership with Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism and the support provided to the Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon committee throughout the grant application process.
This collaboration is continuing to deliver positive outcomes for events and tourism across the region.
Council also thanks Visit Victoria for its investment through the Regional Event Fund, recognising the important role regional events play in attracting visitors, supporting local businesses and showcasing the character of regional communities.
The Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon will feature live music, family-friendly entertainment, market stalls, and food vendors.
Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said this funding was a great outcome for the music marathon.
“This long-running regional event brings visitors to West Wimmera Shire every year,” he said.
“This collaboration between Council, the event committee and Grampians Wimmera Mallee Tourism worked extremely well and shows what can be achieved through strong partnerships,” he said.
This year’s music marathon is headlined by The Wolfe Brothers. Other artists include Sandra Humphries, Don Costa, The Austins, Graeme Hugo, Peter Coad and The Coad Sisters, Rodney Vincent, Gavin Chandler, Heartland, Oz Quo, Runaway Dixie, The Jim Hermel Band, and Moonshine and Maple.
Free camping is available in the paddock on a first-in, first-served basis, offering visitors the chance to enjoy the natural surroundings and experience live music under the stars.
