West Wimmera Shire Council is inviting residents to attend a series of community drop-in sessions as part of consultation for the 2025-2029 Council Plan.

The Council Plan is a key strategic document that sets the direction for Council over the next four years.

It outlines the priorities, goals and actions needed to support the health, prosperity and sustainability of the region.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said community input was essential to ensure the plan reflected what matters most to the people of West Wimmera.

“Residents know their towns and communities best. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved in shaping the next Council Plan by sharing what matters to them,” he said.

“These sessions are a great opportunity to have a say in the future direction of your community.”

Drop-in sessions will take place in six towns across the shire:

  • Apsley – July 22 from 9am to 1pm at The Corner Shop Apsley
  • Goroke – July 22 from 12pm to 2pm at the Goroke Library
  • Harrow – July 22 from 3pm to 5pm at the Harrow Hall
  • Kaniva – July 29 from 9.30am to 11.30am at Little Guys Pizza and Café
  • Serviceton – July 29 from 1pm to 3pm at the Serviceton Recreation Reserve
  • Edenhope – August 4 from 10am to 12pm at the Edenhope and District Community Centre

The sessions are informal, and community members are welcome to drop in at any time during the listed hours.

“We want to hear from people of all ages and backgrounds across the shire,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.

“Even if you can’t make it to a session in person, there are still other ways to get involved.”

A short online survey is available for those unable to attend in person: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YJ8X78H

In addition, a representative panel of residents will be formed to explore local priorities in greater depth and make recommendations to Council.

Panel members will work with facilitators and Council staff over several workshops.

Expressions of interest to join the panel can be submitted online: https://au.openforms.com/Form/20fba06a-7943-410f-900c-03e2fd5ac992
