Have your say on the future of Lake Wallace

Published on 01 February 2021

A draft strategic plan for Lake Wallace is in the making at West Wimmera Shire Council. Project consultants for council, RM Consulting Group, have drafted a discussion paper and are now seeking feedback via a survey from the Edenhope community and other stakeholders.

The survey is part of the first phase of community consultation for the Lake Wallace Strategic Plan development. The survey aims to gather views on lake usage, its value to the community and visitors, proposed improvement works, safety concerns and future possibilities. At the end of the survey, respondents can opt to receive a draft copy of the Lake Wallace Strategic Plan.

Once the survey results have been collated, a series of community workshops will occur throughout March 2021 to encourage further public involvement.

The discussion paper and a link to complete the survey is available online from www.westwimmera.vic.gov.au/LakeWallaceSurvey until Monday 22 February 2021 at 5pm.

A paper copy of the survey can be requested from Edenhope council office at 49 Elizabeth Street, Edenhope.

West Wimmera Shire Council Mayor, Cr Bruce Meyer, hopes the Edenhope community will come forward with a diverse range of views on how to improve Lake Wallace.

“The Lake Wallace Strategic Plan will help shape the future of this iconic lake”, he said.

“It is tremendously important to engage the Edenhope community and other users of the lake in the first phase of planning as it is the community who will reap the benefits of their input.

“Jump on our website and take the survey on Lake Wallace, what it means to you and how it could be improved. It only takes a few minutes to have your say in the development of what can be a wonderful recreation and community asset for Edenhope now and into the future”.
