Help available for regional businesses

WIMMERA business owners affected by COVID-19 are being urged to take advantage of the many grants and support packages currently on offer through the state and federal governments.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses in the region have been forced to make changes. Many businesses have closed, reduce trading hours, or had to adjust their operations in other ways, resulting in reduced income.
West Wimmera Shire Council staff, together with the Wimmera Development Association, is encouraging all businesses to see what government support they could take advantage of.
Wimmera Development Association project officer Vernetta Taylor said trying to work out what help was available could be a difficult and overwhelming task for many people.
“There is quite a range of support that businesses can take advantage of, but many people don’t realise what exactly is out there or how to access services,” she said.
“Knowing where to look is sometimes half the battle.”
