West Wimmera Shire Council staff will carry out lopping works of all sugar gum trees at the Kaniva Recreation Reserve.

The works were scheduled to be done in the near future.

These trees have been lopped previously and due to extensive re growth are due to be lopped again to minimise risk of falling limbs causing harm to people and property.

Council staff have also identified a number of dead stumps that will be removed as part of the overall works.

This work will be a continuation of tree lopping done on Budjik Street and at the Kaniva hockey field earlier this year.

Funding from the recently announced Federal Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program has been allocated for this project.

The work will be contracted out to a specialist tree services provider.
