New kindergarten coming to Edenhope

A new kindergarten will be built at Edenhope College, providing additional kindergarten places for families in Edenhope and surrounding communities.

The Victorian Government has announced the new kindergarten as part of its Best Start, Best Life reforms.

The new centre is expected to be a one-room facility, with the project due for completion ahead of the 2028 school year.

West Wimmera Shire Council has worked closely with the Department of Education to plan for future early childhood infrastructure needs across the municipality.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the new kindergarten would provide an important addition to early childhood services in Edenhope.

“This is welcome news for families in Edenhope and the surrounding towns,” he said.

“The new kindergarten will provide additional capacity for families and strengthen early childhood services in the Edenhope community.

“Having kindergarten located at Edenhope College will also make drop-off and pick-up more convenient for some families.”

The Department of Education will appoint a service provider to operate the kindergarten. The provider will be announced once an appointment has been made.

Children who attend the kindergarten will be able to choose which primary school they attend when they start school, including Edenhope College.

The Victorian School Building Authority will oversee construction of the new kindergarten.

Council will continue to support stakeholders as the project progresses.
