Street cleaning works and installation of permanent outdoor dining furniture are occurring in the following months. These works will revitalise and refresh the outdoor dining experience in West Wimmera towns.

West Wimmera Shire Council received funding from the Victorian Government through the Local Councils Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package program to assist local hospitality businesses with setting up outdoor dining facilities.

This funding will assist in brightening streets and activate the outdoor dining and entertainment experience.

West Wimmera Shire Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said, “The cleaning of our streets and new outdoor dining furniture comes just in time for the summer and Christmas season. I encourage the community to get out and about and enjoy the outdoor dining experiences our local businesses have to offer.”

When the funding first became available, temporary furniture options were offered to businesses until permanent works had been completed.

Council has been working with local hospitality businesses and the installation of permanent furniture is expected to begin in mid December, providing towns with an improved and rejuvenated outdoor dining experience in time for Christmas.

Street cleaning commenced in Edenhope on the 21st of November. Council acquired a contractor as part of the Local Councils Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package program to clean and brighten West Wimmera streets. Cleaning will also commence in Kaniva on the 5th of December.
