Pop in to our Pop Up Cafes in February
Published on 28 January 2021
The Community Support Team at West Wimmera Shire Council is hosting a series of pop-up cafes at various locations throughout the shire during the month of February.
The pop-up café sessions are a way of promoting council’s community support in a casual and comfortable setting and providing shire residents with an opportunity to be face to face with staff “over a cuppa”.
During the information sharing sessions, community support will launch a new take-home handbook outlining the services on offer to residents.
Residents are encouraged to use the café sessions as an opportunity to let the team know their support requirements now and into the future. Staff are eager to collect this information either verbally or via an online survey accessible from devices supplied at the café. This information will be used to inform future planning for community support in the shire.
Pop-up café sessions are occurring every Friday in February at the following locations:
- Edenhope, new library foyer, 5 February, 10am to 12pm
- Kaniva, Heart Felt Café, 12 February, 10am to 12pm
- Goroke, Goroke Community Health Centre, 19 February, 10.30am to 12.30pm
- Harrow, Harrow Bush Nursing Centre, 19 February, 2pm to 4pm
- Apsley, RSL Hall, 26 February, 10.30am to 12.30pm
Complimentary tea, coffee and other refreshments will be supplied.
Mayor, Cr. Bruce Meyer, is delighted by the pop-up café initiative.
“The best way to know what someone needs is to have a face to face conversation with them and how lovely to be able to do this in a café setting”, he said.
“Engaging with our community is essential in all areas of council particularly in community support where often we are assisting vulnerable members and dealing with complex needs.
“This is an opportunity for an exchange of information to occur between council and the community which will address any existing or new needs of residents and also inform future planning for our community support team.
“Get along to one of the pop up cafes, enjoy some delicious refreshments and let us know what your support needs are in West Wimmera.”
To assist with catering requirements or for further information residents are asked to contact Marli Clark or Kaye Robinson on 13 99 72.
