Tiny Towns fund now open for project ideas

Tiny Towns

West Wimmera Shire Council is inviting community groups and residents from small towns across the shire to put forward project ideas for the Victorian Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.

The program offers up to $50,000 for projects that support local facilities, strengthen community groups, improve shared spaces and encourage visitation.

Council received a request through the Innovation Platform seeking guidance on a Tiny Towns Fund application and is looking to extend this assistance to all community groups.

Each town can receive only one allocation, so identifying priority ideas early is important.

Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the program was an opportunity for smaller communities to progress local initiatives that matter to them.

“Community groups are encouraged to contact Council early so we can help with guidance, eligibility questions and general support,” he said.

“This will ensure groups are well prepared to submit their own applications and put forward strong proposals that reflect community needs.”

Eligible project ideas may include improvements to public spaces, upgrades to community facilities, initiatives that celebrate local heritage and activities that build community connections.

Applications for the Tiny Towns Fund close on 4 February 2026.

For further information or to discuss a project idea, please contact Sarah Ellis or Aaron Shalders at West Wimmera Shire Council on 13 99 72 or email council@westwimmera.vic.gov.au.
