Members of the Trakmaster Off-Road Caravan Club have returned to West Wimmera Shire to help a Harrow tourist attraction.

Earlier this year, the caravan club had its annual gathering at Kaniva, which brought up to 200 people to the town.

Over the week, club members toured the shire, visited local attractions, and shopped at West Wimmera businesses.

Last month, about 30 members of the club came back to the shire, to volunteer their time helping with the Harrow Sound and Light Show.

Volunteers organised a five-day working bee to help fix sets, paint buildings, and make and repair costumes.

The group even fixed up an old coffin prop.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said it was wonderful to see the Trakmaster club members returning to Harrow.

“Last time they were here they provided an incredible boost to the local economy and raise money for many community groups,” he said.

“The fact that they have decided to return to West Wimmera Shire is very humbling.

“The Harrow Sound and Light Show is a spectacular tourist attraction that is run by volunteers. We are extremely grateful for the Trakmaster Caravan Club for helping to revamp and improve the show.”

The Harrow Sound and Light Show is a night-time tourist attraction in Harrow and is based on the town’s history.

It is run by the Harrow Promotion and Development Group, which is made up of volunteers.

During the Trakmaster’s gathering at Kaniva, the group put on the Sound and Light Show especially for the visitors – their first show back since COVID-19.

Members noticed that some of the sets and props needed upgrading and decided to return to help the tourist attraction get back on its feet.

The Harrow Sound and Light Show has two performances left for the year on November 19 and December 3.
