West Wimmera Shire Council will host an afternoon of free wellbeing sessions and exhibitors at a special carnival next month.

The Wellbeing Carnival is an all-ages event that will showcase the support services that are available to individuals and families in the region to help improve liveability.

The day will be at the Kaniva Community Hub on September 9 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.

It will feature free workshops, guest speakers, food and drinks, live demonstrations and more.

Free wellbeing sessions include information on getting support at home, homelessness, health, vaping, gender equality, managing money, healthy eating, and fall prevention.

There will be yoga and meditation sessions, live music, and cooking demonstrations.

Presenters will come from a range of Wimmera organisations, such as Uniting VicTas, Women’s Health Grampians, West Wimmera Health Service, and Grampians Health Edenhope.

There will be a pop-up playgroup with activities for children.

Information will also be available on West Wimmera Shire Council services such as maternal and child health, community support, and volunteering.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the event was a great opportunity for people to learn more about health and wellbeing services in the region.

“We are please to have so many organisations coming along to our event to help us showcase a range of different topics,” he said.

Free buses are available from Edenhope and Goroke, but bookings are essential. Please call 13 99 72 to book.

This event was made possible thanks to a West Wimmera Health Service community promotions grant.
