West Wimmera Shire Council Chief Executive Officer David Leahy has formally announced that he will be leaving council at the end of November 2020.

“I have accepted an offer to work at another regional Victorian council in a director role,” Mr Leahy said.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served West Wimmera for almost five years, however I believe it is now time for a change.”

Mr Leahy joined West Wimmera in February 2016 on a five-year contract, and was recently offered a further two-year contract by the former Council, which expires in January 2023.

He previously worked at Swan Hill Rural City Council, and has significant Local Government experience.

“It has been a pleasure to meet and get to know so many committed community members throughout West Wimmera,” Mr Leahy said.

Recruitment for the next CEO will be the responsibility of the newly elected Council.
