West Wimmera Shire residents elect new Council

West Wimmera Shire residents have elected five councillors to represent the community until October 2028.

The following candidates were declared elected to West Wimmera Shire Council following the election held in October 2024:

• Helen Hobbs

• Tim Meyer

• Jodie Pretlove

• Richard William Hicks

• Tom Houlihan

Four of the councillors – Tim Meyer, Jodie Pretlove, Richard Hicks, and Tom Houlihan were re-elected. Councillor Helen Hobbs has been elected to her first term on Council.

Election Manager Antony Boland officially declared the results at 3:30pm on Thursday, 7 November 2024, at the Edenhope and District Community Centre.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout welcomed the new Council, highlighting the energy and enthusiasm the elected members will bring to our shire.

The councillors will be officially sworn in on Tuesday, 12 November 2024, where they will take their oath of office and commit to serving the people of West Wimmera.

The new mayor will also be elected at the Statutory Council Meeting in Kaniva on Tuesday.

"We look forward to working with the new Council to strengthen and support our community," Mr Bezuidenhout said.
