West Wimmera Shire Council’s Kaniva customer service centre will be closed to the public later this month for renovations.

From 18 September, Council’s Customer Service will be located at the Kaniva Senior Citizens Centre in Progress Street, Kaniva.

The latest renovations are the second stage of a larger project, that will see the entire building upgraded.

Stage two will focus on the front half of the building, particularly the customer service area.

Key elements of this phase will include the removal of walls to create larger office spaces, the installation of new carpet and ceilings, and new security doors, aimed at providing a more comfortable and efficient environment for both our staff and the community.

Stage one of the project was completed in May and saw substantial improvements to the back half of the building.

This included the conversion of a storage room into a functional office space, the removal of walls to create an open-plan office environment, and the installation of new carpet and ceilings.

Council Chief Executive Officer David Bezuidenhout said the enhancements in stage one, had already had a positive impact.

"We are pleased to now embark on stage two of the Kaniva office renovations, which will be a significant step forward in creating a modern and efficient workspace for our staff."

Council anticipates the works will take about four to six weeks to complete.

Throughout this time, all customers requiring in-person services are encouraged to visit the relocated customer service office at the Senior Citizen Centre.

"The relocation to the Senior Citizen Centre ensures that our services remain accessible during the renovation period,” Mr Bezuidenhout said.

“Our dedicated staff will still be on hand to assist with any inquiries, ensuring you receive the same level of exceptional service you have come to expect from West Wimmera Shire Council.

"We understand that the temporary closure may cause some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.”
