Powercor working with West Wimmera Shire Council before carrying out vegetation management Since Black Saturday, the State Government has tightened regulations and requirements for fire safety. As the power provider in this region, Powercor is responsible for trees and other hazards near powerlines. Powercor has the right to remove or trim trees and has assessed risks in West Wimmera for both High Bushfire Risk Areas and Low Bushfire Risk Areas. Click here to view this media release. Crime Prevention Grants Open Local community groups and Victorian Councils are invited to apply for grants of up to $10,000 to support local crime prevention initiatives. The Community Safety Fund grants provide funds for projects that help increase knowledge on crime and encourage the development of local partnerships to address local crime prevention issues while assisting people to feel safer in their communities.
